Time

The Celtic holiday of Mabon is the time when day and night are of equal length and the Druids celebrate the Mysteries of life and honor ancient Deities. During this time of balance the mystery of passing beyond the veil of time between the parallel universes that control what paths we follow in each world may be breached.

Could I possibly skip through time and follow a different path through the stones of Stonehenge? Standing in the center how many paths are there to other times, other places, other choices? Could I leap to moments in my other lives, steal to times that might have been; lives I feel inside me, beside me, around me? Can I take the chance I chose not to take this last time around? Can I choose to do the one thing I have regretted not doing all my life?  Is this a path through old regrets, to wishful thinking? I can’t go back in this life but can I cheat the hands of fate?

Close your eyes and think within the circle. hear the haunting tinkling musical sounds of the forests, streams, of nature.  I will try to cross over where the stones stand in early morning autumn light. I will walk through the mist, merge into my other self and do there what I couldn’t do here or then -- what I can’t redo here in this time and space. Stonehenge the dream of possibilities, the mind a wonderland of promise.

A place to relax

I'd like to be on the inside looking out of this waterfall...I imagine it warm.

The Wedding

I guess you may be the only one reading this ---I remember when he (Billy Idol)looked too young for me---now he doesn't even if he is.

The menu -- the cake  -- the dresses --- I'm ready for the party ---these details are for the birds--

Course I have nothing to wear. It means I HAVE to go shopping, how horrible...

In going through pictures today I found myself laughing out loud. You kids have been a trip, I 've got to tell you. What a group you are-- there's never been a dull moment.

Looking at pictures of your father has been pretty funny too. His hair has gone through more transformations than mine.

Fast Fiction

 Solar Flares
By Maureen Sevilla

Carly looked at the thermostat which barely indicated a problem with the engine temperature as steam burst through every gap in the engine hood. She looked at her watch; it had stopped. She realized no one had passed by in at least the last hour. The radio crackled as she reached for the phone to call roadside assistance. She managed to hear, “A large solar flare was reported Wednesday and forecasters warned of potential electrical and communications disruptions,” just as she put her cell back on the seat and looked around the desert landscape, dismally losing hope of a passerby.

Poetry

I just read a poem by Langston Hughes which made me think of all immigrants , forced by slavery, or position, or adventurousness to leave their homeland for a new land—generations later genetically seeking their origins. Are they part of their forefathers’ land? Part of the seas, or rivers? Stardust? Part of all things?  Do they search or are they drawn to an abundance of their forefathers DNA buried or sprinkled or dispersed someplace they will recognize instinctively?

Check out Poewars.com I'm in last weeks fastfiction again.

Mont St. Michel

My mood is nostalgic and that wasn't one of my choices so there!!

I want to actually go to this place -- not meerly see it from the mainland as I did so many years ago. I feel greedy because I've seen and done so much, but I guess it can't hurt to wish and dream. "Keep your eye on the goal".

I'll add another place I want to go another time. For now I'll wish for an island that surrounds itself with the sea periodically yet reaches out for the land it has so recently escaped.

Waterlily

This picture is one I took last year of a waterlily in my pond.  I never appreciaited it as much until I put it on my desk top and viewed the photo on a  grand scale.  I love the way the water wraps around the edges of the lily pad and th way it breaks away from the rolled pad emerging through the dark depths of the pond.  Expand it if you can for details.

My island in Puerto Rico

Nice private island in PR.  When we all went down for the funeral of Lydia Colon.  Due to redtape the funeral didn't take place, Lydia of all people would appreciate that.  So we all entertained one another at the beach.  It was a great time and a lovely beach...and before I die I'd like to own a piece of it.  Kristin going native!!!

Quiet

This was the birthday group showing off their best sides on Logan's 21st birthday at the bash in New Orleans...Kristin's taking the picture and I've NOOOOOOO idea where Bill has gotten to.  If you expand this enough there is a lizard in the terrarium and the slush machines in the background are adult slush machines! The lizard looks like he's having a good time too.  The music was great - my toes have not yet recuperated from Logan's friend Patrick's dancing. We're still hoping he flies better than he dances...the air force is depending on it.

Jordan's back in school, Logan's coming home for a visit, and we're planning the wedding this weekend; we hope it's pretty well wrapped up by the end of next week. The soccer club is having its' camp this weekend, the Inn in Olkahoma is coming along too - so it's a very busy time for us all.

My one novel is progressing mysteriously on its' own.  I'm enjoying reading it as I'm writing it.  When I'm done I hope the public feels the same way.  I'm going to use  pen name, cause I can't spell, pseudenum...suedenum...sue sue sudeo.  Why doesn't this journal have spell check?  Please keep up at poewars.com, I'm still writing fast fictiion about once a week.  It's challenging to say something in as few words as possible.  (As those of you who know me can imagine...)

Technology

I wrote yesterday but this form lost it before I could save it. I mentioned to my creative writing teacher that I thought technology stifled creativity...and she asked me if I really thought that...yes!

A paper and pencil are easy to replace. I can't tell you how much time I spend trying to maintain this electronic partner. It's very needy.

I will say this, I never took typing so a finished product would be hand written and illegible at that. I tried to read notes I had written in the margins of a rough draft I was working on and some I never did figure out until I reread the paragraph and figured it out the hard way.

Journal Writing

I'm still figuring out how this thing works. Martha I thought I responded to you the last time but I can't find it. If you read this email me.

Barbara if you are reading this email me. I'm not sure if it automatically notifies you of an entry...

Creative Writing

I got an A in the class and finished a week early. Now we'll have to see what happend with my Sociology class. ...waiting for the final grade!!!

Dennis passed without incident - Hurricane cat showed up this morning so she must have been "hunkering down" (my least favorite expression) somewhere else this storm.

I submitted my first writing piece for pay-I'll let you know if it gets accepted. You'll be excited to know if it is---I'll be receiving a whopping $25 and a free copy of the book it gets printed in. Oh well, you have to start somewhere...

Hurricanes again

I have customers asking about my grades in school now. You know there's a great deal of pressure to do well when your kids tell you you're a good example. Now how will I ever be able to blow off homework? And I just can't lie about my grades. SO far I haven't had too, but even a couple of my customers are calling me a nerd for the amount of effort I'm putting into school. (Creative writing wasn't any sacrifice---sociology was ---ugh  and I'm not done yet)

Stay tuned I'll post the grades---next semester I'm taking film writing! Watch out you may see yourself in a movie!

hurricanes....prepare - prepare - prepare....I'm leaving afterwards if we get hit ---there doesn't seem to be any place to go before...

My Journal

I'm trying to keep up the practice of keeping a journal now that I've finished my creative writing class. I'm not sure how long this will last but you don't have to feel obligated to read it.

The class went well...I actually really loved it. Writing has always been a passion for me...typing hasn't though!

For those of you unfamiliar with the cat story: In reference to the previous journal---the cat is the cat we (actually Logan) took in during the first hurricane last year  ...ie therefore the name- Hurricane. She has come by everyday since until recently when I stopped seeing her for about 3 months --no explanation --now she's back. We thought she had been abandoned or missplaced during the storms last year. She was really skinny. Now she's looking taken care of ---so ---the mystery is who is she? And why does she keep coming to visit. I will mention here - she is a very sweet and fiendly cat. And I must remind everyone in spite of recent evidence I AM A DOG PERSON...How I've ended up a cat woman is constantly amazing.

Hurricane Cat

Hurricane visited today. She comes to the window where I'm sitting and stands up calling me with her strange voice, mewing loudly. She isn't so hungry that she doesn't want to be petted first, so someone is obviously caring for her. Now in contrast to last winter when she could fight with BeanDip through the window, she only stays til I bore her.

Today I opened the window to talk to her so she looked me straight in the face opened her mouth and made strange sounds...not cat sounds. She's very funny. Her strange exotic face only adds to my interest in her, she's a mystery. She's quite a hunter but I don't think she has claws. Now she has started trying to get in the house as I walk inside. I haven't had any cat food so I've been giving her the left over dog food from Jacque and Jasmine's visit last year...she settles  but not enthusiastically.
